Certificate Program Meeting the Needs of Twice-Exceptional Children
2018-19

OVERVIEW

This year-long, integrated training program combines didactic and hands- on training in best practices of gifted education, special education, psychology, child and adolescent psychiatry, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy for Twice Exceptional children - those who are bright and creative and who also learn differently than the norm of the bell curve. Successful completion of the program confers the Certificate in Meeting the Needs of Twice-Exceptional Children. This is intended for individuals who already have experience in their chosen profession and who want to deepen their understanding and expertise in working with Twice-Exceptional Children.

COMPONENTS

1. Year-long Didactics  

2. Field Placements at The Quad Preparatory School and/or The Quad Manhattan in New York City  

3. Supervision

• Small Group: individual child goals and strategies with site supervisors, weekly

• Individual: site supervisors, weekly

• Monthly Group Supervision: program advisors  

4. Research Project Trainees participate in an original, yearlong research project.

FULL TIME PAID POSITIONS (September 2018 -June 2019)

FULL TIME SUMMER + PART TIME UNPAID INTERNSHIPS AND EXTERNSHIPS  (June 2018 - June 2019)

We welcome graduate level (masters or doctoral level) trainees in the related fields above with at least 2 years experience with children with special needs.
